São Sabastião, Paranoá, and Joel's welcome party

On Joel's first full day in DF, he spent time in São Sabastião visiting the school where he would lead a community mural, got a tour of nearby Paranoá by Gersion, and at night was welcomed to Brasilia with a dinner party.

At lunch at a restaurant in Paranoá-- Joel was surprised by the alligator meat on the menu!

Gersion showed Joel where he grew up in the old Paranoá, which used to be a shantytown of 30,000 inhabitants until the government demolished it in 1989.
